Curt joined the Big Show on Thursday afternoon  to talk baseball, the NFL and a little political banter sprinkled in as well.    Curt,

   I enjoyed the interview. I’m not even a Rush Limbaugh fan, but I really don’t like the way the media and some in the NFL have treated him. I don’t believe his criticism of McNabb was racist. The quotes that he supposedly said weren’t even true yet the media ran with them anyway. That is wrong. I think that the NFL was scared that the civil rights groups were going to start boycotting them and they didn’t want to be seen as “racist.” Yet they didn’t seem to care about animal rights groups boycotting them and protesting the NFL for allowing Michael Vick to play again. And I’m sure they’ll have no problem bringing Donte Stallworth back after he completes his one-year suspension.

   As a Cubs fan, I know that a lot of Cubs fans wanted Mark Cuban to own the Cubs. I wasn’t one of them. I don’t like Cuban because I think he’s obnoxious, disrespectful and a distraction. However, the MLB owners essentially told Cuban he didn’t have a chance to own a team and THAT is wrong, too. If someone has the money to put up for owning a team and they win the bid, then they shouldn’t be denied ownership. Jay-Z owns part of the New Jersey Nets and he’s said worse about white people than Rush has said about blacks. No one in the media aside from a few commentators pointed this out.

   I hate to say this, Curt, but what we have is political correctness here. I see the same thing in baseball, too. Listen, I love Jackie Robinson. I think that he is a great role model and I respect everything he did for the game. But I don’t think we need to have a “Civil Rights Game” every year or that teams should wear Robinson’s number 42. The modern day African-American ballplayer has no idea what Robinson and his peers had to go through. I thought that Jackie’s number should have been retired by MLB and never worn again. It’s a nice gesture for teams to want to wear #42, but why not let David Wells wear #3 to honor Ruth? It’s not appropriate. Why not unretire #24 and honor Willie Mays, too?

   Major League Baseball has failed for years to promote the game in the inner cities. Most African-Americans in this country would rather play basketball or football than baseball. In fact, some blacks who want to play baseball are seen as “sellouts” by many in the African-American community and that is wrong. If MLB wants to help improve race relations, how about hiring more black managers and general managers? How about black owners? Or a black commissioner? I think Frank Robinson would make a great commissioner. You can’t tell me that Bud Selig is more qualified than Frank Robinson. If Bud Selig was a funeral director, nobody would ever die. That’s what baseball SHOULD do. Anything else is just symbolism over substance.

   It seems to me that all the negative vibes this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has been spewing over these many years has come back to blow back on his face (A classic “Blow Back”). He always tries to give off the airs that he can have anything he wants but as we all witness those with more money and more influence tossed him aside like sack of potatoes and the ultimate insult was that it was done in public (money don’t buy you everything butterball).

   Now of course he blames everyone else (Michael J. Fox, Perez Hilton, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Sonia Sotomayor, Hillary Clinton, Olympia Snowe, ESPN, NFL, the media, basically people of color, the handicapped, women and gays) when of course all you have to do is listen to his show and plainly hear his daily prejudices filled sermons. So NFL, I salute you decision, job well done. And to the whaling cry baby perched on his self made pedestal, quit your whining it was your own fault. Don’t we all feel better?

   Curt Schilling is the most ignorant ex-athlete in all of sports. Why? He says he still hasn’t heard evidence of racist statements by Rush Limbaugh – he’s been making them for 30 years and finding audio and transcripts of them is easy and can be easily found with a quick GOOGLE search. Curt is lazy, blatantly biased towards right wing figures and ill-informed when it comes to politics and is now a Limbaugh apologist. That’s just great.

   I respect Curt’s athletic accomplishments, but his political views will continue to lose the respect of and alienate many fans if he keeps spouting off and defending Rush like he did on WEEI Thursday.

   This is the best argument I’ve seen for why that day is probably a GOOD idea.

   Rush is an entertainer. Some entertainers can buy teams and not have their entertainment job interfere with their ownership. Unfortunately, when your job in entertainment is to be inflammatory and ignorant (I’m sorry, “provocative”), then yeah – that’s going to interfere with the league’s ability to market themselves.

   If he wanted to quit his radio show and stop being a clown, then I’d certainly support his bid for ownership.

   The NFL decides who becomes an owner not the other way around.

   All this blowhard (Rush Hudson Limbaugh A.KA. Jeff Christie) has to offer is his money and his opinions, (which in my opinion are on the fringes of racism, one mans opinion). There are many more groups biding for the Rams, not just his group. Lets face it there are more men with money (Marshall Faulk) that will gladly fill the slot and the Rams will win or lose depending on how well they work as a team and not on whether or not Rush is an owner.

   As for Vick, well he is a player (he has talent not like you, Rush or I, unless you are a NFL player?) and he served his time and the NFL decided we live in the land of second chances, so why not (I personally don’t like it but, oh well). Life has never been fair (NEWS FLASH!)

   Now as to the “Free Speech” argument, I guess many of you like myself heard Rush on Thursday “Almost in tears”, priceless. But the last couple of days he now is in his normal ranting and will continue until someone surpasses him, “Free Speech” continues, so what is being stifled, it simply is not true, of course, you may not have a radio, so you might want to get one.

   Steve King makes a great point exposing the blatant hypocrisy and political correctness of Roger Goodell and asks why did the NFL approve both J. Lo and Fergie as owners of the Miama Dolphins when the lyrics in their videos have been truly offensive such as using the N word and so on.

   Rush has been the victim of a smear campaign because of his political views. What kind of country do we live in that you are denied the right of ownership because you happen to disagree with the President on policy? That is pure and outright discrimination. This is not Cuba or China, this is still America where we have freedom of speech and thought.
