Shade Foundation of America was founded by Shonda Schilling, a melanoma survivor and wife of Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling. SHADE is dedicated to eradicating melanoma through the education of children and the community in the prevention and detection of skin cancer and the promotion of sun safety.

Strikeouts for Troops

Strikeouts for Troops, founded by San Fransisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito, is a national project for the benefit of our war wounded troops being treated at Walter Reed, Bethesda Naval and other military hospitals.

The Webster House

Webster House is a private non-profit home for children located in Manchester, NH that has been meeting the needs of children and families since 1884. The children’s ages range from 8-18. The home is a co-ed facility that offers individual and group counseling along with life skills training for the older children. Webster House provides a safe, nurturing home for children who are unable to live at home.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy: Families of SMA

Families of SMA was founded in 1984 for the purpose of raising funds to promote research to find a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and to support families affected by SMA. FSMA is the largest private funder of SMA research and is leading the way to find a cure. FSMA is currently funding 2 multi-center clinical trials for 2 different drugs that have shown promise increasing SMN protein levels and the largest, most aggressive drug discovery programs ever undertaken to find a cure for SMA. FSMA has funded $20 million towards SMA research, and has already committed an additional $15 million over the next three years.

Any Soldier Inc. started in August 2003 as a simple family effort to help the soldiers in one Army unit; thus, our name. Due to overwhelming requests, on 1 January 2004 the Any Soldier® effort was expanded to include any member of the Armed Forces in harm’s way.

Since its establishment in 2005, FREEDOM IS NOT FREE has raised funds to serve,support, and increase awareness with the aim of easing our heroes’ and their families’ burdens.

Operation Iraqi Children

Operation Iraqi Children is a grass-roots program founded in early 2004 by actor Gary Sinise (Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, CSI: NY) and author Laura Hillenbrand (Seabiscuit: An American Legend).  Sinise and Hillenbrand created OIC to give concerned Americans a way to reach out to war-stricken Iraqi children and support American troops in their efforts to assist them.
